Our library offers a protected wi-fi network for our patrons to use with their wi-fi enabled devices such as laptops, portable game systems, and other handheld or portable electronic devices capable of surfing the internet. Here are the instructions for connecting a windows laptop but the same will be true for an apple or any other internet capable device.

First enable your devices Wi-Fi antenna or card, open your wireless network manager and connect to the Chetopa Library netowrk, then your machine will then obtain an IP address from the router automaticly, there isnt any encryption on this network to keep things simpler, but there is an authentication routine to protect unauthorized access to the internet connection.  

Open a web browser and enter in your favorite website, instead of being presented with your webpage you will get a screen prompting you for your login information.  If you don't know your login information or dont have one see the librarian to get your password or obtain a new one. 

Now you will see a welcome screen and another smaller popup window, this window will reauthenticate you periodically so you dont have to login repeatedly by hand. Your now connected and can surf to your favorite sites.
