Brooklyn in Manhattan has to be included in any literary tour as it rates as the richest location for literary history, so I can recommend using New York’s excellent subway system to travel from where you are located and start exploring the interesting neighborhood. If you can actually plan your visit or vacation, it is a great idea to plan it around the annual Brooklyn Book Festival held in Borough Hall, in Brooklyn.

Acclaimed authors from all over the world fill auditoriums during the festival to satisfy your literary appetite. Events are held in bookstores like the Green light Bookstore and Powerhouse Books, other events in cultural venues like St. Ann’s Warehouse and the Littlefield club and Coco 66, all based in Brooklyn. Bryant Park got its name from William Bryant, one of the great writers in New York. It is known as one of the top literary places in the city to visit. Adjacent to the New York Public Library makes it a superb location to borrow a book from the library and relax with literature in the historic park.

What better way to end off your day than visiting a village pub, maybe sitting in a chair a famous writer has occupied. The majority of New York pubs have valid claims to have hosted great literary figures in their bar stools. Many great writers has found inspiration at the bottom of their pints and it is tradition for a person on a literary our to at least visit some of them

Granted life in New York can be expensive but visiting literary hotspots like the above will not cost you a cent, unless you have a drink at the pub that is.
